What Diane Offers.

My mission is to help clients break through internal obstacles and develop greater resilience to handle challenges, function at their best, take more risks, and ultimately create more-satisfying lives. I bring an extensive background of education, training, and experience to this work.
Background
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, National Certified Counselor, IEDTA-Certified Teacher/Supervisor, Career Consultant, and Registered Yoga Teacher.
I see both individual clients and couples for psychotherapy and career counseling in my private practice, with offices in Palo Alto and Redwood City. I also provide clinical case consultation and supervision for psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers.
In addition, I serve as an instructor in the Behavioral Health Education program, and as a coach/group facilitator for the Medical Weight Management Program at Kaiser Permanente. Some of the courses I teach include: Mind-Body Medicine, Improving Sleep, Overcoming Depression, Anxiety Regulation, Couples Communication, and Pathways to Emotional Wellness.
I teach Vinyassa-style yoga and Power Yoga at local studios in the Bay Area.
I have completed a three-year post-graduate core training program in ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy), an evidence-based treatment approach that integrates the latest research on the neuroscience of emotion regulation, biofeedback, attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, and experiential learning.
After graduating the three-year core training program, I completed an additional three-year advanced teacher training and clinical supervision program in ISTDP, and have taught ISTDP to colleagues and lay groups.
In January 2015 and again in March 2018, I was an invited speaker at the Vaden Counseling Center at Stanford University. I co-presented day-long workshops on ISTDP for psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers. I have taught an introduction to ISTDP for lay persons at the Stanford University Law School on three occasions.
I have been a guest lecturer at Stanford University Medical School on managing depression and on anxiety regulation for pre-medical students and students in the public-health program. I have also served as adjunct faculty for the Sophia University Graduate School of Psychology program, and taught Fundamentals of Career Counseling for first-year graduate students.
I recently served as a contributing editor for a book on ISTDP, Co-Creating Change: Experiential Dynamic Therapy Techniques by Jon Frederickson, which earned the International Best Book Award in Psychotherapy/Mental Health for 2014. I also served as an editor and story contributor for another book, Luck is No Accident: Making the Most of Happenstance in Work and Life.
